Pride
The fading flowers,
oh glorious beauty,
set on the head
of a fertile valley,
will be like fruit,
ripe before harvest,
that someone picks
and then devours!
Pride is attractive
for a time!
Yet taints, when it
saturates the mind!
It grows like a cancer,
destroying truth!
When the wreath is
full and heavy,
it blinds the aloof!
The tongue jests and juts,
with the art of pleasure.
As the ego decides,
someone else's measure.
The idol splutters
with spiteful intention,
seeking elevation
through a hasty mention,
souring another's point of view,
jeopardizing relationship,
to flaunt a pious hue!
Staggering at visions!
Stumbling on decisions,
to justify a notion,
to do and do!
Multiplying judgement,
condoning enslavement,
to regulate a standard,
rule on rule!
Busy, busy,
got to get it done
but your heart's so reckless,
when you hurt someone!
Busy, busy,
so back, you'll fall,
injured and captured
because you wanted it all!
Blind leads blind to the grave!
For, you made a lie,
your refuge
and falsehood,
your hiding place,
straying from the plumb-line
of God's grace!
Instead of liberating captives,
you left them, in your waste!
Leader, Pastor, brother, friend,
stop excusing your indulgences!
Please repent,
before it's too late!
When God finally brings justice,
He won't hesitate!
